In 2008, Naila left the familiar comforts of North Carolina for the vibrant streets of Brooklyn, New York. One late night, amidst the glow of movie scenes, Steve asked Naila a simple question: “Want a sandwich?”

They strolled down the block to the local bodega. The result? A turkey hero that rocked Naila's world: Boars Head maple honey turkey, American cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, a drizzle of mayo, and a splash of oil and vinegar. Every bite was a revelation—a flavor explosion that she never tasted before, she was used to her mother’s Southern cooking, not eating a lot of sandwiches growing up. “There’s nothing like this back home,” she told Steve, and he could hardly fathom it.

Thus ignited a passionate conversation about bringing the essence of New York’s sandwiches to North Carolina. After years of brainstorming, on August 21, 2015, Plumpeez Deli came to life—a tribute to that unforgettable turkey hero. The day that we opened up we put our last $100 in the cash drawer for petty cash and never looked back.

Although Steve unexpectedly died in 2022, Naila and their kids carry on the legacy, infusing Plumpeez with love, passion, and community.

We source the finest local bread from Neomonde Bakery—free from preservatives, eggs, milk, and butter. Pair that with only the finest Boars Head meats, cheeses, and condiments, and you have a winning combo. Our veggies? Freshly sliced every single day. And for those with dietary needs? Plumpeez Deli’s “Token of Love” program is a community initiative designed to ensure that no family goes hungry. By purchasing a $5 token, customers contribute directly to providing a sandwich or salad to someone in need.

This program collaborates with local schools to distribute these meals, fostering a supportive community network. Through the efforts of Plumpeez we have donated 2,500+ meals to students and their families in partnership with local schools. Countless families have received food during their time of need.
